In Her Debt (part two)

The balance of power was obvious for anyone to see. Aravella held all the cards...she simply had to play them correctly and Alex would slip meekly under her control.

She smiled warmly to him "Sit down please Alex and we'll go through your file" she then made a show of readung through things frowning and pursing her lips frequently. After a few minutes she paused for a moment and clasped her hands together "Hmm...we have a bit of a mess on our hands don't we"

Alex started his pre-prepared speil "Ms Williams. All I need is an extension to the overdraft until I can find a job. You can see from the bank statements I am not extravagant or wasteful....I don't have many outgoings. It will be fine once I have a regular income...I will agree to whatever repayment plans you stipulate"

Arabella was enjoying how utterly desperate this delightful young man looked...that earnest desperation and eagerness to please would be the character traits that would mean he'd deliver himself into her clutches. She knew how this would play out...her only concern was ensuring the whole thing stayed discreet. She wanted him but she wanted to avoid any scandal for her, Georgina and the ladies who made up her circle of friends.

She pursed her lips "Alex...we've known each other for a while now and I am sure you are a sensible, prudent young man but as the bank's financial advisor I have a duty to do what's right for my employers. ..in that capacity all I can offer you are these fincial advice and debt awareness leaflets. .." she let her words sink in and desperation take hold. Alex shrank back into his seat and stared at the floor

Arabella leaned forward and spoke quietly "...however in my capacity as your friend and fellow member of our church I am not going to abandon a lovely young boy like you to the clutches of payday loan companies....if I can rely on your complete discretion I'd like to talk to you in the Petite Maison restaurant at half past five today....now run along young man. Tell no-one about this and don't be late"
